Heatwaves, floods and wildfires pose rising threat to democracy, report finds

A new report highlights the increasing threat that climate-related natural disasters pose to democracy, revealing that 23 elections in 18 countries were disrupted in 2024 alone. Over the past two decades, at least 94 elections and referendums across 52 countries have been affected by climate impacts.
